Good afternoon all,

I've configured a development installation of apex 4.0, plus a production runtime only install. (actually, i created the production as full dev at first to create the workspace, and then converted it back to runtime only)

I attempted to export an application created in the development side and then import that into the production run time only (by executing the sql export as the apex schema owner).

It looks like the security ID that the development APEX assigns to the application has a problem with the security id expected in the production side.

Is there a way around this without manually editing every exported application we do?

If others can explain how they currently go about deployed APEX apps from a dev environment to production, i'd like to hear them. Does everyone setup their production environment with a full development install and then just import the apps from the GUI?

Thanks

Not that I'm underestimating OraFAQ forum members (who visit Apex forum) or scaring you away, but - note that this (Apex) forum isn't among the most visited forums here. For example, I chose to display 40 topics per page. These 40 topics in Apex forum cover 5 months. 40 topics in SQL & PL/SQL forum cover 5 days, 10 days in Forms forum, a month in Server administration forum.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid you might wait quite long before you get the answer here. Perhaps you should take a look at OTN Apex forum; I *think* that this is the most visited Apex forum on the web at the moment. Moreover, (some) people who answer questions there are members of the Apex development team so ... you know what I mean.

Anyway: best of luck, wherever you search for it.

Fan or not, but ... what is the alternative?

Forms (for example) is here for ages and you'll find the answer to (most) Forms questions simply by Googling. As far as I can tell, not many people really used Apex since recently (say, since version 3). There aren't many resources available. Several blogs, a forum or two, official documentation, half a dozen of books. Did I miss something?

OTN came through. If anyone else comes searching for the same thing, this blogpost seems to outline it pretty thorougly.

I think that Joel Kallman is Apex development team member (so I'm not surprised his blog entry helped).
